✅ WEEK 1 — APRIL 18th
ORIENTATION
Time for us to meet each other, beautiful teachers! We’ll discuss the logistics of the program, including how we’ll handle live lectures, office hours, and practice teaching hours. Grab the link below to your Orientation and start on your lesson for this week.
Also, you have office hours on Friday, so get started on the Foundations lecture.

For office hours, don’t forget to do the following:
Bring a mat and wear comfortable clothing for practice
Where to Start: complete the “What is Your Why” exercise in the Start Here video
Foundations: practice the Foundational concepts discussed in your lectures for the week and do your homework from the Foundations PDF

INTEGRATION
This week we’re taking a break from new material and integrating content from the last two weeks. Don’t forget, you have group practice hours to put everything into practice.

Foundational Principles: select 2 foundational principles and teach them as a warm up to your student
Mat 1: be prepared to teach Mat 1 exercises using the basic cueing formula (you can use the movement matrix for practice teaching)

We will be doing a bit of movement during these office hours, so roll out your mat and bring 2 (softer style) release balls, if you have any. If you don’t, you can use 2 very soft tennis balls or a rolled up towel.

For this week’s group class hours, prepare to do the following:
Help your student find their “core muscles”
Help your student learn how to stabilize their spine/pelvis during core work
Teach these Mat 1 exercises:

Single Leg Kick
Plank
Bridging
Review and be prepared to teach Mat 2 exercises

Reformer and anatomy

We will focus on spinal alignment, common injuries that impact the core, as well as have a discussion about how spring tension impacts the exercises you are working on in Reformer 1.

This week we’re taking a break from new material, so you can practice the Reformer 1 exercises and attend group practice hours.

If you don’t have a Reformer at home and cannot make arrangements to work on one during group practice hours, you can participate by watching.

💻 Group Practice Hours - Saturday, July 9th at 9:00 am PT - Building a Complete Session
During this session, each you will teach a 40 minute Reformer-based class, complete with a warm up and a cool down.
You homework for this week is to use this PDF 🔗 as a reference, and put together a complete 40 minute Reformer class that you will teach to your students.

If you don’t have access to the Chair just yet, review Chair 1 materials, so you can understand the similarities and differences between similar exercises you would see on the Reformer. Use the remaining time you have to practice Reformer 1+2. Get ready for next week’s practice hours.

Homework:
Over the next 3 weeks, create 2 different Mat, Reformer, Chair classes (50 mins each) and practice teaching them to others. Choose pieces of equipment that you will most likely be working on in a professional setting, or equipment that you have access to at home.
