It’s been a wild ride, and by now you know that it’s never really over.

At the same time, let’s celebrate because you just passed a HUGE milestone and you should be proud of yourself. We are proud of you! 🎉🤗

REPEAT LOUDLY AND PROUDLY, “I’M A TEACHER” 🎓

Let’s talk about getting your official certification as a Pilates Teacher.

What’s Next?

⏱️ Practice hours:

Real life practice is what connects all the pieces together and improves your teaching.

If you would like to receive a Comprehensive Pilates Teacher Training Certification you must complete your practice hours before scheduling the exam 👉

Before you schedule your exam, you must submit a completed teaching log to maria@humanistudios.com.

1️⃣ Requirement:

A total of 30 self-practice, and 20 practice teaching hours for each machine/mat (aside from barrels, which is 10 and 5 hours respectively).

Invest in your self practice, so all the info can sink in and so that you can feel the work in your body.

🎥 Practical test:

To receive a Certification, you will 1. share your self-practice/teaching log with us to show how many hours of self-practice and teaching hours you have completed 2. schedule a 60-90 minute in-person/virtual private session with a student of your choice, and we will set up a zoom call with you to observe the session.

For the Mat Only Certification - 60 minutes of Mat

For the Mat/Reformer Certification - 30 minutes of Mat and 45 minutes of Reformer

For the Comprehensive Certification - 90 minutes

The 90 minute video of you teaching a student has to show you teaching on a combination of 3 pieces of equipment (not including mat). For example, your session can include Reformer, Barrel, and Chair/Cadillac. Each piece of equipment must be used for at least 30 minutes of the time.

The practical test session must clearly show us that you’ve understood the material and have designed and taught an appropriate session to your student. See the section below for more details.

You must wait a minimum of 3 months after you graduate to schedule your practical test. If you choose Mat only or Mat/Reformer only, you will have to wait at least 6 months after obtaining your first Certification to do the Comprehensive.

certification test

Think of the test as your way of demonstrating that you’ve absorbed all the material and have put some practice into your craft. If you do not pass the test the 1st time we will give you detailed feedback about skills you can work on to get it done the 2nd time. You will have to wait until the next test out week to schedule your 2nd time.

✨ Check out the PDF below to see what we’re observing when you’re taking your test.

As you prepare for your practical test, be sure to check out the guide below, so you can be clear what we’re looking for when we’re observing you teach your session. If you have question, ask at your next office hours, or quarterly Teacher Talks that will soon be available.
