Let’s celebrate because you just passed a HUGE milestone and you should be proud of yourself. We are proud of you! 🎉🤗
Now, let’s talk about what’s next.
First, your final.
For your final, you will teach a student that you do not know for 1 hour on the Reformer. Your goals are to demonstrate what you have learned in the program and teach to your student. This means that you will have to adapt the session you planned based on what you learn about the student at the beginning of your session.
You will be evaluated based on your practical test guide below.
This is a closed notes, pass no pass final. You have to take the final to pass and receive your certificate of course completion.
Second, after successfully taking your final, you can receive your official Humani™️ certification by following the steps below.
What’s Next?
⏱️ Practice Hours
Real life practice is what connects all the pieces together and improves your teaching.
If you would like to receive a Comprehensive Pilates Teacher Training Certification you must complete your practice hours before scheduling the exam 👉
Before you schedule your exam, you must submit a completed teaching log to maria@humanistudios.com.
1️⃣ Requirement:
A total of 30 self-practice, and 20 practice teaching hours for each machine/mat (aside from barrels, which is 10 and 5 hours respectively).
The log must be organized by apparatus — with the date and duration of the session, and designate whether the session is self practice or practice teaching. For practice teaching sessions, the name of the person who is being taught must also be included.
Invest in your self practice, so all the info can sink in and so that you can feel the work in your body. During your self practice hours, practice on pieces of equipment at the studio that are not readily available to you outside of the studio. In addition, take sessions from each other and practice on people outside of your teaching cohort.
2️⃣ Observation (Optional/Recommended): We recommend 50+ hours of observation spread amongst various pieces of equipment to round out your training. If observation is not available, include extra 50 hours into your group classes and/or private sessions with a certified instructor with the focus on their teaching style, as well as class format and programming.
🎥 Exam for Certification
To receive a comprehensive certification, you will also schedule a 90 minute in-person exam. Maria will provide a student for your practical exam.
2️⃣ Requirement:
90 minute cohesive, fluid, and client-appropriate private session on a combination of:
Mat (15 minutes),
Reformer (25 minutes)
Cadillac (25 minutes)
Chair (25 minutes).
During the exam, you will also be asked to teach 1-2 exercises of our choosing on each piece of apparatus, including Mat.
The exam must clearly show us that 1. you understood the material and 2. have designed and taught an appropriate session to the student. See the practical test guide below.
You also have the option to obtain a Mat + Foundations and Reformer Certificate of Completion.
Mat + Foundations and Reformer Certificate:
Duration: 50 minutes on the Reformer, 15 minutes on the Mat, plus 3-5 chosen bonus exercises. Total time 75 minutes. A completed log for Mat and Reformer hours must be complete before scheduling your certification exam.
✨ ONCE YOU’RE READY TO SCHEDULE YOUR PRACTICAL EXAM FOR CERTIFICATION, E-MAIL MARIA@HUMANISTUDIOS.COM. TESTS ARE SCHEDULED 30 DAYS OUT.
Certification Exam + Critical Thinking
Think of the certification process as your way of demonstrating that you’ve absorbed the material and have put some practice into your craft. If you do not pass the exam the 1st time, we will give you detailed feedback about skills you can work on to get it done the 2nd time. You must wait a minimum of one month to schedule your 2nd attempt at certification.
